Open the live mapDrifting is a motorsport where drivers deliberately push their car into a sustained slide, swinging the back end out and holding it sideways through a sequence of corners. Instead of being the fastest, drivers are judged on line, angle, speed and style.
At pro level, drivers qualify on solo runs and then battle in head-to-head tandems, one leading and one chasing inches away, in a knockout bracket. At grassroots level, public drift days let anyone with a suitable car get on track and learn in a safe setting.
It started on Japan's mountain roads and has grown into a worldwide sport with series such as Formula Drift, Drift Masters and D1 Grand Prix. Find an event to watch on the map.
